This five-part virtual series is intended to advise attendees in the best practices in writing an IEP. Each ninety-minute installment will dive into the content of the day for the first hour and designate the remaining time to review questions and scenarios from the attendees. We encourage attendees to have access to their current IEPs for these stand-alone sessions. The following topics will be covered:

MTSS in Motion

The IEP Technical Assistance Center (IEP TA Center) TA Specialists present a framework of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) in the MTSS in Motion video series. This series begins by setting the stage for implementing MTSS in districts or schools offering guidance on the importance of leadership and the infrastructure needed for sustainability. The series continues with information on communication and collaboration, the use of data-based problem-solving, and data evaluation. Finally, the video series wraps up with a more detailed examination of tiers of support and the whole learner approach

Participants will leave with concrete strategies and a variety of ways to apply these practices in order to improve outcomes for all learners.

This workshop will address the rationale for increasing inclusive services for the delivery of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) by special education providers as well as related service providers. Participants will leave with concrete information and strategies to successfully implement services within the general education classroom to improve outcomes for all students. 


Developing Behavior Intervention Plans

Developing Behavior Intervention Plans

This session will provide an overview of the process for developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Session content includes: planning for the functional behavior assessment, team analysis of the functional behavior assessment data, developing behavioral interventions and supports, progress monitoring for the effectiveness of the behavior plan, and documenting the plan for behavioral intervention in the Indiana IEP system.

High-Leverage Practices in Special Education Series

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) in partnership with the Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability and Reform (CEEDAR) Center has developed and published a set of high-leverage practices or HLPs for special educators. Across domains, there are 22 practices that every K–12 special education teacher should master and be able to demonstrate. The selected practices have been shown to improve student outcomes if successfully implemented.
